The Importance Of Chewing Your Food!
How many times do you chew your food before you swallow? Studies show that in order to properly break down your food before you swallow you should chew at least 25 times for every bite that you take. Most Americans chew only 6 times before swallowing which can in the long run be detrimental to your overall health.
Chewing your food properly first and foremost helps you to absorb more nutrients and more energy from your food. Smaller particles of food are more accessible to your gastrointestinal tract as opposed to larger particles which can provide bacteria and fungi fuel for transport through your system. Proper chewing also helps to improve digestion, reduce diarrhea, reduce acid reflux, reduce bloating and gas.
For those of you looking to lose weight, research shows that individuals who chewed their food up to 40 times lost more weight and maintained a more consistent weight than those who chewed their food 10 times or less. It takes approximately 20 minutes for your stomach to signal to your brain that you are full. By chewing thoroughly and slowly you will end up absorbing more nutrients from your food and will end up eating less.
Your mission this week, if you choose to accept it, is to chew every bite of food at least 25 times. You will eat less, absorb more nutrients and improve your overall gastrointestinal health. Its time for you to take your health to the next level, I DARE YOU.
